Dissemination Activities | IHCONCS 2026 | Zagreb, Croatia | 17–18 September 2026
Research findings from the Challenges of Decision-Making in the Digital Age (CoDiDA)
research project were presented at the International Conference on Computer Sciences
(IHCONCS 2026)
, held on 17–18 September 2026. The conference brought together
researchers, academics, and professionals from various fields of computer science, with a
programme featuring 143 scientific presentations by authors from 48 countries. The topics
covered included cybersecurity, privacy and digital trust, artificial intelligence, data science,
and human–computer interaction.
The following paper by Katarina Kostelić, Dario Kukuljan, and Mieta Bobanović Dasko was
presented at the conference:

Cybersecurity Awareness and Threat Perception Constructs

The study examines how cybersecurity awareness and perceptions of digital threats have been
defined and measured in previous empirical research. Drawing on scientific literature indexed
in Web of Science and Scopus and applying bibliometric and network analysis methods, the
study maps the most common contexts, types of threats, and constructs used in existing
research.

The findings indicate a shift from broad concepts of information security towards more
specific threats, such as phishing, privacy breaches, identity theft, and data incidents, while
also revealing considerable inconsistency in the terminology and application of related
constructs. Based on these findings, the study proposes an integrative framework linking
context, information and knowledge, awareness, threat appraisal and perceived response
capability, trust and attitudes, and intention and behaviour. The framework provides a
foundation for the further development and more precise empirical testing of cybersecurity
awareness measures.
